Lionbridge

Lionbridge Review: Yay or Meh?

If you are looking for a means to earn your income from the comforts of your home, time to boot up your computer and start looking for money making opportunities on the Internet. Indeed, the World Wide Web is home to a massive trove of home based work opportunities. These opportunities are just around the corner, so to speak, and you really don’t have to dig deep into cyberspace if you want to make money online. Some of these can be found in Lionbridge Enterprise Crowdsourcing, a site that, in its own words, offers “non phone work from home with flexible hours.”

Lionbridge is one of the companies that offer you the option to make money from home at your most convenient time. The site explicitly states that it offers “non phone” work, which makes it a great option for folks who are not keen to do customer support jobs, cold calls, or anything else that require them to talk to people online. Now if you want to know more about this company, then you are in the right page. We will be reviewing Lionbridge in this blog, and let you know whether or not it is something that you should invest your time and effort in.

What Is Lionbridge Enterprise Crowdsourcing?

Lionbridge Enterprise Crowdsourcing, a part of Lionbridge Technologies, is a company that provides remote employment to freelancers, who in turn are given the freedom to work whenever they wish and wherever they find themselves comfortable in. The company specializes in e-learning, localization, and software testing. The company has been around for a long while now, even before the advent of the Internet itself. It was founded in 1966, originally offering English and bilingual work at home positions. At present, the company earns $450 million in revenue for Lionbridge technologies, thanks to its army of 10,000 bilingual and English-speaking freelancers from all over the world.

Lionbridge offers a variety of positions to aspiring work at home freelancers. While most of the positions involve search engine evaluation—an in demand service in this day and age, where Google page ranking determines the amount of traffic a website gets—the company also offers a whole bunch of different positions, all of which can be done from the comfort of your home. This includes web content administration, web content assessment, ad assessment, social media assessment, translation, and a whole lot more.

How to Apply for a Lionbridge Home-Based Job?

Applying for work at home employment in Lionbridge is pretty much like applying for a nine to five job. You will first need to contact the company’s human resource department via phone or email. As with any other job application processes, you will need to provide plenty of personal information, with your education and work history on focus. The company may require you to present proof of your college degree, depending on the position that you are looking to apply for. The good thing is that not all job positions require a college degree, meaning that, regardless of your educational attainment, you can still find a position to apply for in the company.

Once you have passed the initial application process, you will need to pass a three part exam, for which you will be sent some manuals to study. Some time after taking this examination, you will receive a confirmation as to whether or not you have passed and can now work as a remote Lionbridge contractor.

Work Schedule and Pay

Lionbridge will require you to work a minimum of ten hours per week, but you cannot work for more than 20 hours in the same period, unless you are requested to work for additional hours, which of course, you have the right to refuse. You can work any number of hours daily, but you can only work for up to eight hours each day. This, in my opinion, is very reasonable, considering that it keeps you from overworking yourself and give you plenty of time to rest in between your work hours. However, this effectively locks you out of doing overtime work, which may sometimes be necessary for your task at hand.

You will also have the freedom to choose the time when you can work in a given day. Any time is a great time for work, provided that your body and mind is in good working condition and you can make it to your weekly work quota of ten hours. You can even choose not to work at a particular day, so long as you can manage to achieve the required minimum number of work hours at the end of the week. Indeed, the work hours are so flexible that you can work a second job, but that’s not something I’d recommend.

Your hourly rate will range from $9 to $15 per month, depending on your position. You will be paid via direct deposit at the end of each month.

The Pros and the Cons of Working for Lionbridge

There are plenty of advantages when it comes to working as a remote contractor for Lionbridge. In fact, from what we have gathered from other reviews from all over the Internet, particularly in the job search sites Glassdoor and Indeed, there may be even more pros than there are cons to working with the company. Such are as follows:

The advantages:

  • You can work at any place where you can connect to the Internet.
  • You can work from your home.
  • You can work at any time you please.
  • You can work any number of hours each day.
  • You are only required to complete ten hours of work per week.
  • The pay is decent, but this is subjective.
  • You can easily treat your work at Lionbridge as a part time job.

The disadvantages:

  • You cannot work for more than 20 hours per week unless requested or required.
  • You are paid monthly rather than in two increments, and this can make budgeting harder for some.
  • You are essentially a subcontractor for Lionbridge, so you will have to pay for your own benefits.
  • Work availability is limited, so you may end up competing with other contractors for the job.

Working for Lionbridge is a great alternative to many nine-to-five jobs, especially retail. The pay is decent and you can choose when you can work and how much work you want to get done. This work opportunity is highly recommended for career freelancers and people who want to work from home.
