Toluna

Is Toluna Legit? A Review

If you are one of those folks in the hunt for ways to make money on the Internet, chances are that you have come across an invitation to a survey site, be it through an advertisement or an email, solicited or otherwise. These sites are also known as marketing research sites, for those who prefer to be fancy. If you have found yourself tempted to join these sites, though, that is completely understandable—survey sites simply offer opportunities that allow people to make money by merely completing a survey, and such a task will not take much of one’s time. One popular survey website that you are likely to come across with is Toluna, and we will be subjecting this site to a thorough and comprehensive review.

For those of you who haven’t heard of this yet, survey websites essentially ask you to complete surveys for a small financial reward. The reward is small and certainly not something that you ought to work hard for if you are looking for an alternative to a nine-to-five job, but it may be a great option if you have plenty of spare time and you wish to spend all those leisure hours wisely.

That said, surveys are not exactly big earners, but it helps if you can find a survey site that rewards you better than the rest. Whether or not Toluna is such a site is something that we are going to figure out in this quick review.

About Toluna

Toluna markets itself as an online research tech suite, and these words are pretty much aimed at online advertisers and businesses who are looking to know more about their target audience. The site claims to provide its clients with effective ways to interact with their target audience, as well as make highly valuable real time sampling. If these buzzwords sound a little complicated to you, know that they all mean one thing: surveys. Surveys is what Toluna is all about, and they are offering small monetary incentives to those who are willing to take part in their surveys. If you are looking for ways to make money online that does not have anything to do with surveys, however, Toluna is definitely not the right money making opportunity for you.

Is It Not a Scam, Though?

The world of online surveys is rife with survey websites that claim to reward you certain amounts by completing their surveys, but end up giving you nothing in return. It also does not help that many of these sites employ deceptive marketing, hence earning the suspicions of Internet savvy individuals.

Toluna, however, does pay what their survey takers are due. It may take a while or might run into some issues, but the fact remains that the site’s users get what they signed up for. If this does not make Toluna a legitimate online survey company, I have no idea what else will.

How Do You Join Toluna?

Joining Toluna is pretty much like joining any other site on the Internet: just fill in a form with all the required information, and then log in to the site. Of course, you will need to complete your profile by putting in the important personal information, like your real name, your actual address, the date of your birth, and the like. Provided that you have a decent Internet connection, all of these will not take more than an hour of your time. Now that is not to mention that doing so will not cost you any money.

Now How Can You Make Money from Toluna?

As we have mentioned earlier, survey sites pay people with money, usually in the form of points that you will need to accumulate and then cash out when you have gathered enough. Toluna is no different in this regard. Toluna, like many other companies, make money by practically becoming a market research tool for other companies, who, in turn, pay the site and post surveys that can help them improve the products and services that they offer, or simply the way they interact with their audience.  As an incentive, these companies will offer money for those who can complete their surveys, and Toluna gets a cut off of the payment in return.

That said, it takes nothing more than answering surveys in order to make money in Toluna. Once you have completed a survey, you will be rewarded with points, and as in typical survey websites, each point has a small corresponding monetary equivalent. Earning a few hundred points may not be significant here, however, as the site will require you to make at least 60,000 points if you wish to cash your money out. You can exchange this for cash or for gift cards that you can use in sites like Amazon.

Bear in mind, however, that 60,000 points is worth $20, and it will take you several months to make just that much. While $20 is quite a good amount of money, it’s nothing significant if you have to work anywhere from several weeks to a few months to earn that much. Besides completing surveys, you also get to earn points by completing sponsored polls and referring your friends and acquaintances to the site.

What’s Good About Toluna?

  • Making money only requires you to have an opinion.
  • There are many surveys available, all under a wide variety of topics, so you don’t need to worry about repeating the same survey over and over again.
  • You can earn as much points as you can; the sky is the limit.
  • You can make extra money by creating polls that you can post to social media websites.

The Bad

  • Points earned per survey is usually small.
  • It may take up to six weeks after the survey that you have completed closes for your points to be credited.
  • The minimum amount of points needed for you to cash out is rather high, and is only equivalent to $20.
  • You may need to complete qualifying surveys before actually doing surveys that will earn you money.
  • Prescreening surveys may be a little too long, and you may not always qualify.

Toluna is a legitimate online survey website, and it comes off as a typical one at that. It is a slow earner and is best done during your free hours, and is definitely not good enough to supplant hourly work.
